Not much activity.............

So Ill ask these two questions.

"What makes any Jeep the overall show winner?"

What do judges look for?

The past two years the same Jeep won.

We have had a hard time finding judges that are knowledgeable and well versed in what to look for. The last two years had two different judges, both were very knowledgeable.
Now having said that, two different judges, two years, same winner, the Jeep must have been worthy of the prize. The same military jeep has won 7 out of 8 years. He didn't win last year because he wasn't there. The jeep was absolutely the best.

Maybe we should look to have 3 or 5 judges instead of just one.  Wink

All big time car shows do that.

One person shouldn't be the sole judge.

Do you want to help judge?

Sure, I think I've seen my fair share of Jeeps in 40 years and certainly owned enough.

BTW I was down at the Carlisle/ Ford  show in Pennsylvania this weekend and my friend as one of the classes he won, also won the the "Peoples Choice Award" that was actually judged by spectators and then votes were dropped in a box in the main booth.

One person WASN'T the sole judge last Year.  I had a couple other people with me to pick their 3 favorites in each category and we went from there.   Judging for the Rally last year was a PITA due to the weather and rigs coming and going all day.  I'd see a Jeep that would be awesome for a catagory early in the day, and later it would be gone.  Makes it hard to potentially give a trophy to someone that's not there.

There was also a people's choice award at last year's rally.

So I have read the criteria and all seemed to be reasonable.

So will there be just one Judge again this year or more?

I have been either one of the head judges, or the judge (when volunteers were low) at the GAJR since it's inception, only taking a break last year (and even then I still helped out).  I have a background in automotive repair/restoration, drag racing, and off road (specifically Jeeps).  Without being modest, I know more about Jeeps, and what you can do to them, than most.

The overall "Best of Show" Jeep could be a combination of any of the categories, or fit into none of them.  Typically, it's unique, clean, and demands attention.  I look for custom work and attention to detail.

I know from your previous post, last year before the Rally, that you were hoping to grab best in show.  Your Jeep was powerful, loud, and impressive, but it was also incomplete.  IMO, it was not worthy of best in show in the condition it was in.  That may be different this year, and I wish you the best of luck, but I have to say that seeing another post regarding winning that category reminds me of the kid in class who always raises his hand screaming "pick me".

Any judge (including myself), who has ever worked in the GAJR, has ALWAYS been completely impartial.  If your Jeep is the best in show, then it will win.

Well alright.

Several others who I respect said the same thing about being incomplete (and not having enough lights  Huh) Grin

I may not be able to make it this year because of the date. Because Quaboag 4X4 Hillclimb is October 10th and I have to prep for the Unlimited "Over the Top"
