5  Great American Jeep Rally / Convoys / Convoys on: September 13, 2012, 03:02:08 PM
This section has been created for anyone that would like to organize a convoy. Our suggestion would be to make the subject the region / town you would like to meet in. Then people can chime in so a list can be created.
6  Great American Jeep Rally / Announcements and News / 2012 Rally Rules and Requirements on: September 13, 2012, 12:29:06 PM

Here are the general rules and requirements for this year’s Rally.
General Rally rules.

1. Be respectful to all staff and spectators.

 2. Be respectful to the property. The owner has gone well above and beyond in helping make sure this year's Rally happened and we want to make sure we are allowed to come back next year.
 3. Do not drive your Jeep over 5mph. (exception being the mud trench)
 4. This is a family event, conversations and language should reflect that.
 5. No alcohol or drugs allowed anywhere on the property, this includes the parking areas. Anyone found drinking or using will be asked to leave and may have to have a conversation with an officer.

Rock, Mud Trench and RTI Ramp rules.

1. All drivers and passengers are required to sign a waiver.
 2. No passengers are allowed out of the Jeep while on the rock pile, in the mud trench or on the RTI ramp.
 3. No one other then event staff is allowed within the fenced off areas at any time.
 4. All drivers must keep their seat belts on at all times.
 5. Jeeps most have front and rear recovery points for the rock piles and mud trench.
 6. Jeeps must have a roll cage or factory solid roof.
 7. There will be rig requirements for the hard rock course.
 8. If no forward movement is made after 5 mins Jeeps will have to exit the rock pile / mud trench. For the mud trench folks this may involve staff pulling your Jeep forward or backwards in the trench.
 9. Drivers must adhere to all directions given by the staff.
 10. If at any time you feel uncomfortable or feel you have reached your limit of driving skill let a spotter know and they will help you off the rock pile as quickly and safely as possible.
 11. When told you have reached your furthest point on the RTI ramp stop. Flopping a Jeep on those may make for great photos but makes for a costly recovery and holds up everyone else that wants to try it out.
Keep in mind that our main goal at the Rally is for everyone to be safe and have fun. If at any time you feel something is happening anywhere at the Rally please notify a staff member or one of the police officers on site.
So with all of that said lets have a great day and make this the absolute best Rally ever!!!

Just a quick update you might want to pass along to your members. Currently we only have two competitors signed up for the Rock Crawl. If we don't get enough competitors to make it worth it (at least 18 more), the current idea is the Rock Crawl will be opened up to anyone bringing a vehicle to the show who wishes to take a run through. There will be different difficulty levels...not just the typical DWE stupid-insane line.  Unfortunately our usual competitors have broken/non-existent rigs or have engagements immediately following the show so they can't take a chance of injuring their rig. This'll be the first year since we started the RC portion of the show that we probably will not have enough competitors.  Sad

Please encourage attendance at our event. As stated, it is one of the biggest events that supports our Association and has allowed us to establish things such as the trails fund. This can only happen if the event has a good attendance! There will be trail rides on Saturday, plenty to do in the area, on-site camping, and more! We're also doing the Powerwheels race again so if you know anyone coming with kids who have a Powerwheels...please tell them to bring it!

Many of you know we recently lost Russ Cook to cancer. Russ is the one who originally started the Truck Show, as both a way to educate the public about our sport and to give 4x4 enthusiasts a chance to come and mingle with others who share their interests. With it being our 10th year and all, this year will also be kind of a memorial to Russ and it would be awesome to just flood the place with people! We'll also be presenting a gift to his wife and son that was collected from the first ride for Russ that we hosted a few weeks ago.

We will see you there!
14  Great American Jeep Rally / General Discussion / Re: Biggest Jeep event in the Northeast... on: February 10, 2011, 10:40:48 AM
JP never gets any of their facts straight, I don't think they have posted to correct date once for GAJR. I think they are also the guys that made fun of Mark because he pointed out that we were larger then another event.
15  Great American Jeep Rally / Past Rally Feedback / Re: 2010 Feedback on: February 09, 2011, 03:27:19 PM
As always thank you for the feedback.

I know we would love to separate the rock crawl and RTI area but unfortunately we are really limited for space that we are allowed to use. We could move the RTI area further back towards the red barn but that would separate it from the rest of the event. It also can get fairly wet over there so that would be a last minute move the day before the Rally.

Glad to hear you had fun though. I am going to guess you are with Jon Fund so if you want to help again be sure to get in touch with Mike and let him know. If you are not with Jon Fund send an email to Evelyn at eve @ jeeprally.org, she is organizing all volunteers this year.
